Throughout my career, I’ve been a student of behavior. I’m fascinated by the way people make their paths through this world ─ in triumph and failure. Identifying a common denominator isn’t always easy, because the reasons and ways in which people achieve ─ or fail to achieve ─ are varied, and not always obvious.
In the natural world, the speed at which choices are made can be the difference between life and death, success or failure. Mere survival can depend upon the way animals react in any given situation.
While vacationing in Africa, my wife and I witnessed something that enlightened me and helped to broaden my understanding of behavior. The scene provided insight to how animals find the best path in a crisis. The lesson, I believe, is easily applicable to people.
